Maverick Piping- with Geordie Hunter
Thoughts and Reflections
Meeting Geordie at Maverick was my first stop in Glasgow (literally after landing at the airport). In going to Scotland, I knew I wanted to visit some Bagpipes related workshop. In my research, I started to get overwhelmed by the amount of legendary Bagpipe companies with long legacies and traditions. It became clear that I needed something different, and discovering Maverick was that something!
At Maverick, Geordie had a new vision for this long tradition, he had a clear mission from this self-made enterprise, and also there was no video about Maverick on the website, as opposed to the other bagpipe companies which had these beautifully-made videos, and frankly I don't think they needed another one.
Geordie was a pleasure to visit and talk to. He was fun to chat with and learn from. He proved to be a talented musician and instrument-maker. He is still in the early stages of his career and I am excited to know that he was continue innovating and creating new things as his company grows.Ā
