Episode 6: Nathaniel Rich Strings

I was exicted to visit Nathaniel because I happened to be in the area with my family, AND I knew a trip to Hawaii would not have been complete with a journey to ukulele maker.

It was the first visit that I had come to understand the struggle and difficulties of being an instrument maker. Nathaniel was very upfront about the challenges of this line of work. The meticulous details, the long hours, the unsteady income, the lonely work. By no means was he unhappy about tihs, as this was the life he committed to, but he made these realities clear.
