Episode 8: NB Instrument

NB Instrument
The Surprising Journey of a German Inventor
📍 Hamburg, Germany
His Website

Thoughts and Reflections

The only itinerary item I had in Hamburg was to visit Nicolas (NB Instrument). Firstly, because I was only here to transit to another nearby town to visit a friend. Secondly, I was in Hamburg (in that very same canal area) last summer. By the way, the Miniature Wonderland is one of my favorite places I went to in Germany. It is a massive place of train dioramas. You can spend hours there admiring all of the details and taking in the experience. Anyways, I flew into Hamburg, visited Nicolas, went to the train station, and off I went again.

All to say, I was excited to Nicolas, because after looking at his portfolio work, and his journey he shared on his website, I still really had no idea who he was and his whole deal. It was honestly a bit overwhelming being there, because of wealth of knowledge and experience. Alot of what he was sharing was going over my head. It wasn't until I was editing this video that I came to realize the full extent of how amazing this man is, his wild journey, and the creative Bohemian lifestyle he lives.

I don't typically buy instruments from the people I visit, or else I'll be soon out of money, and also I don't have space for it (both while travelling and in my house), but his travel ukuleles and some of his other unconventional instruments, I really want to buy soon.

I'm grateful to have visited him. He was incredibly kind and was eager to share about his work.
